Unanimously
Resolved, That the Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting Expresses Its Deep Appreciation to
Ritajean Butterworth
Member, CPB Board of Directors, 1992-2004
Chair, 1995-1996
Vice Chair, 2001-2003
Member of CPB's Community Service Grant Review Committee, Minority Affairs Committee, Education Committee and the CPB/Annenberg Council
The Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting recognizes the extraordinary service of Ritajean Butterworth to public radio, to public television, and to public broadcasting at every level from the local to the national.
For more than a quarter-century, she has championed programs that promote the education of children and of those who teach them; promoted the principles of localism and community service on which public broadcasting rests; and has worked to advance the interests of public broadcasting as a community institution and national treasure.
Ritajean Butterworth will be long remembered by this board as an arbiter of common sense and uncommon wisdom. We have learned much from her diplomacy, passion and vision, and will always treasure her contribution to both public broadcasting and to the public interest. We mark the end of her service on our board with respect, admiration and gratitude.
