The Board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting recognizes the contributions to public broadcasting of Jack Valenti, who helped shape the modern-day public broadcasting system.
As a member of President Lyndon Baines Johnson's White House staff, Valenti played a key role in drafting and passing the Public Broadcasting Act, which established the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. After leaving the White House, Valenti joined the CPB board where he served for seven years.
The Board expresses its gratitude for Jack Valenti's dedication to public broadcasting and extends its deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
