The Board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting recognizes the extraordinary contributions to public broadcasting of Wayne Bundy, who championed public radio and television through a career spanning five decades.
Known as "the grandfather of New Mexico public television" for his work at KNME in Albuquerque, Wayne also served as executive director of the Rocky Mountain Corporation for Public Broadcasting, where he worked with Congress and other federal officials to ensure that public broadcasting in western states received appropriate funding, assistance, and recognition. In 1991, he received the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's Murrow Award for his central role in promoting the growth of public radio in the west.
The Board expresses its gratitude for Wayne Bundy's dedication to public broadcasting and extends its deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
