for their Service to the People of the Pacific Islands

The Public Broadcasting Act calls on the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to encourage public telecommunications services that are responsive to the interests of people in particular localities, to address the needs of unserved and underserved, and to ensure that all citizens of the United States have access to public telecommunications services. The public broadcasters of the Pacific Islands have provided invaluable community service as we work together to fulfill this mandate.

Shaped by a geography, history, and mix of cultures distinct from the continental United States, the islands of American Samoa, Guam, and Hawai'i represent unique audiences. We are grateful to the region's public broadcasters, both radio and television, for helping their communities share in public broadcasting's ability to inform, educate, and inspire.

We at CPB are proud to work in partnership with these public broadcasters, and we look forward to building on that partnership in the future.
