Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting

Seven in favor, one absent
WHEREAS,
The CPB Board of Directors has endorsed the goal of strengthening the ability of local stations to provide meaningful services to their communities; and
WHEREAS,
Museums and libraries, like public broadcasters, are important community educational and cultural resources that seek to address local needs; and
WHEREAS,
The Institute of Museum and Library Services is a federal agency that makes federal assistance available to museums and libraries to encourage the use of new technologies and broadcast media and collaborations with community organizations that enhance access to museum and library collections, programs, and services; and
WHEREAS,
CPB and IMLS recognize the positive impact that collaborations among public broadcasters, museums and libraries can have on fulfillment of these institutions' public service mission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The CPB Board of Directors hereby authorizes management to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with IMLS in support of the Partnership for a Nation of Learners that will encourage public broadcasters, museums and libraries to fulfill their educational and community roles more effectively through collaborations that address community needs.
