Vice President, Radio, 1998-2002
Director, Radio, 1997-1998
Director, Radio Program Fund and System Development Fund, 1998-1997
Assistant to the Senior Vice President and Director, Radio Program Fund, 1988-1989
Assistant to the Vice President, Telecommunications, 1985-1988
Deputy Director for Broadcast Services, 1983-1985
The Board gratefully acknowledges and will long remember Rick's 33 years of distinguished association with public radio; his leadership, his passion for public service and his vision for public radio's place in American culture.
During his 19 years of service at CPB, Rick touched every corner of public radio with his inovative thinking, dedication, integrity, and good cheer.
Rick identified and supported shows that are now public radio mainstays. Under Rick's guidance, three national station grant reviews produced policies that fostered the growth of rural and minority stations as well as the broader public radio industry.
Rick pushed public radio to serve more listeners in more ways while maintaining its core values. For his vision and high standard of public service, Rick's public radio colleagues honored him with the Edward R. Murrow Award.
Rick's impact on public radio is certain to outlast his all too short time with us. We will miss him greatly.
