Appreciation to Henry J. Cauthen

RESOLVED,

That the Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting expresses its heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to

Henry J. Cauthen

Chairman, CPB Board of Directors, 1994-1995

Member, CPB Board of Directors, 1990-2000

For his vision, which unleashed the power of public broadcasting for advancing education; for his leadership in his native South Carolina, under which South Carolina Educational Television has come to lead our nation today in the use of technology for providing educational services; for his role in creating quality, noncommercial programming, such as Firing Line, Great Performances, American Playhouse, and The Magic School Bus; for his years of valuable service to the CPB Board of Directors, both as chairman and as the public television representative to the Board; for his continued enthusiasm and dedication to expanding the reach of public broadcasting to Americans from all walks of life; and for his hard work, kindness, patience, and friendship.

The Board, on behalf of CPB and public broadcasting, extends its warm wished to Mr. Cauthen for continued success in all of his future efforts and pursuits. His leadership and work for the people of the United States will long endure.
