Appreciation for Don MacCullough
Unanimously
WHEREAS,
Don MacCullough has served public broadcasting for 31 years, 22 of them as General Manager of WLRN Public Radio and Television;
WHEREAS,
One of the early leaders and pioneers of the Florida Public Broadcasting Service, Inc., Mr. MacCullough was instrumental in developing the organization and securing the state funding for all of the public television and radio stations in the state of Florida;
WHEREAS,
Mr. MacCullough oversaw the station's development into a multi-channel public telecommunications facility that includes Public Radio 91.3 FM, Public Television Channel 17, Cable-TAP Channels 36 and 37, and ITV, a 20-channel, wireless cable system that delivers instructional television programming into all of Dade County public school classrooms; and
WHEREAS,
Through his vision, WLRN-TV and WLRN-FM have become outstanding educational and multi-ethnic resources for the people of South Florida, with a viewership of more than 385,000 and listenership of more than 140,000 respectively each week.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,
That the Board extends its appreciation to Mr. MacCullough for his many years of service to public broadcasting, offers its congratulations on the occasion of his retirement, and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
