RESOLVED,
That the Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting expresses its deepest appreciation to
Douglas J. Bennet
President and Chief Executive Officer, National Public Radio, 1983-1993
for his distinguished leadership; for his astute management and administrative skills in restoring financial stability to NPR; for his many contributions to NPR's steady and deliberate growth and current prominence; for promoting the development of programming that significantly increased NPR's audience; for conceiving and implementing a comprehensive and innovative strategic plan for NPR; for revitalizing and diversifying radio cultural programming; for championing a more inclusive, diverse station audience; and for his strong leadership which has allowed NPR to set high standards for broadcast journalism.
The Board extends its sincere thanks to Douglas J. Bennet for his years of service on behalf of public radio and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
