Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting
May 17, 1988

CPB's Role in Support of Education

Unanimously

WHEREAS,

Representatives of the public television industry and the educational community have reviewed the long term educational needs of the nation and the opportunities for public television to contribute to addressing the nation" educational needs; and

WHEREAS,

These needs and opportunities have been documented in "Using Public Television and Instructional Technologies to Meet Educational Needs"; and

WHEREAS,

The Board of Directors has reviewed the most effective role which the Corporation can pursue with its strong commitment to education, its comparative advantages, but limited resources.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE I T RESOLVED THAT:

The Board of Directors adopts the attached statement as the Corporation's role in and commitment to public broadcasting's response to the educational challenges of the 1990s.
