FY 1989 CPB National Radio Program Production Fund Priorities
Unanimously
WHEREAS,
The Board recognizes that Management conducted a thorough consultation, from December 1987 to April 1988, with the public radio system, including 300 CPB-qualified public radio stations, approximately 1,000 independent radio producers, representatives of national public radio organizations, and program distributors regarding the CPB National Radio Program Production Fund;
WHEREAS,
The Fund was created to fund projects that have no immediate access to funding;
WHEREAS,
The Fund represents seven percent of CPB's FY 1989 radio allocation; and
WHEREAS,
The "Audience 88" research has described opportunities to increase the number of people served by public radio.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting hereby approves the following priorities for the FY 1989 CPB National Radio Program Production Fund.
The Fund will emphasize projects that:
May yield major new services and series;
May take programmatic risks;
May increase the national audience targeted by the producer; and
May require some period to become established in the public radio program marketplace.
