Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting
January 23, 1990
Establishment of the CPB Mission and Goals Fund
Unanimously
WHEREAS,
The Corporation must manage its own fiscal affairs in the most prudent and responsible manner and be prepared for any fiscal emergency; and
WHEREAS,
The Board recognizes that the Corporation is, from time to time, directed to take initiatives on behalf of public broadcasting by the Congress of the United States that require expenditures not part of the current adopted corporate budget plan; and
WHEREAS,
The Corporation frequently is presented with proposals and funding opportunities which, in CPB's judgment, are important to public broadcasting and that require the timely commitment of funds to maximize the full benefit of such proposals to public broadcasting and the American people.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The CPB Board of Directors hereby directs the President and CEO to establish and manage a "CPB Mission and Goals Fund" in accordance with the description of that fund contained in a memorandum from the President and CEO to the Board on that subject dated January 8, 1990.
