Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting
May 19, 1992

FY 1993 and FY 1994 National Radio Program Production Fund Priorities

Unanimously

WHEREAS,

The Board reiterates that the principal purpose of the CPB National Radio Program Production Fund (Radio Program Fund) is to fund production of programs of high quality, diversity, excellence, and Innovation obtained from diverse sources, with strict adherence to objectivity and balance in programming of a controversial nature;

WHEREAS,

The Board recognizes that Management conducted a thorough consultation, from January through April 1992, with the public radio system, including more than 350 CPB-supported stations and approximately 1,000 independent producers, representatives of public radio's national organizations, and programming distributors regarding the CPB National Radio Program Production Fund; and

WHEREAS,

The conclusion of that consultation was that a major value can result from investments by the CPB Radio Program Fund in programs, series, or new program services that will substantially increase and diversify public radio's audience.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting hereby approves Management's recommendation for FY 1993 and FY 1994 National Radio Program Production Fund priorities as detailed in the attached recommendation dated April 30, 1992. The Fund priorities will be for projects that

increase and/or diversify public radio's audience,

yield quality programming that is illuminating and

inspiring as well as appealing, and seek programmatic innovation.
