Distribution Plan for Supplemental Appropriation
Seven in favor; one opposed
WHEREAS,
On March 6, 2009, the Board of Directors authorized CPB management to submit to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) a request for an additional appropriation to offset the severe revenue declines currently being experienced by public broadcasting during this economic recession, and directed management to expeditiously develop a supporting plan outlining distribution priorities for the Board's consideration; and
WHEREAS,
CPB management duly consulted with two advisory panels of public broadcasting system leaders regarding guiding principles, goals, and options for the use of such emergency funds; and
WHEREAS,
CPB management has developed and presented a plan to the Board of Directors for the distribution of the additional appropriation funds.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,
That the CPB Board of Directors adopts the distribution plan recommended by CPB management, as outlined in the attached document, authorizes CPB to present the plan to OMB and to Congress and, if enacted, implement the plan including entering into necessary agreements, and take other such actions and/or make adjustments as may be necessary and appropriate to facilitate the goal of timely distribution, which are consistent with this Resolution in the opinion of CPB's General Counsel.
