Each year the Corporation for Public Broadcasting recognizes outstanding individual contributions to public media by presenting the Ralph Lowell Medal, public television's most prestigious award, the Edward R. Murrow Award, for individuals whose work has fostered the growth, quality, and positive image of public radio, and the Fred Rogers Award recognizing outstanding contributions in the field of children's educational services. From time to time, CPB recognizes outstanding individual contributions to public media by presenting the special Lifetime Achievement Award. The CPB Community Lifeline Award shines a spotlight on public media stations that have provided exemplary service to their communities during local emergencies, natural disasters, and other urgent situations.
