Doc Humes was a man of many identities: novelist, co-founder of The Paris Review, cultural provocateur, inventor and hippie philosopher king. In this stylistically original take on a literary “beautiful mind,” Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Immy Humes tells her father’s story through those who knew him best, including Paul Auster, Peter Matthiessen, George Plimpton, Norman Mailer, Timothy Leary—as well as the FBI and CIA.
