Corporation for Public Broadcasting Fiscal Year 2009

Following a prototype created under an earlier R&D grant, this production and dissemination of a multimedia initiative seeks to improve the ability of middle and high school students to learn American history. Through game play, students navigate historical settings, “develop” relationships with key historical figures, “investigate” primary documents, “witness” pivotal events, and ultimately “decide their fate in the face of history.” The project includes a Web site with classroom resources, activities, and social networking opportunities for teachers and students, as well as a 30-minute program available for broadcast by public television stations.
