$425,000 amendment (CPB’s total support: $2,425,000)

This series of five two-hour episodes, by acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns (Florentine Films), tells the human history of the nation's most important and most heavily visited national parks—Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Acadia, and Great Smoky Mountains—and the Americans who made them possible. This amendment provided additional funding to support community engagement, educational, and promotion efforts in connection with the series, which aired beginning in September 2009.
