Facing the Mortgage Crisis National Initiative Management and Station Grants

This initiative allowed KETC-TV/St. Louis (which earlier conducted a successful local demonstration project in St. Louis) to roll out its project nationally, re-granting most of the funds provided by CPB to help other public media develop relationships and provide resources for people to deal with the current mortgage crisis. KETC developed preproduced elements (e.g., broadcast content, online resources, and the brand); offered guidance as other stations developed relationships with community organizations and produced localized content to serve as resources in their communities; oversaw the work of KNPR-FM/Las Vegas in connection with efforts by public radio stations; and supervised the National Center for Outreach’s administration of grants to stations in the markets that the U.S. Treasury identified as most affected by this crisis.
