A hybrid video production in which youth storytellers use short-form documentaries to explore Type 2 diabetes among teenagers, particularly Latinos and Native Americans. The teenagers’ video diaries and segments are professionally edited before being posted online, establishing a mentoring relationship with the project producers. The Web site creates an interactive community for teenagers with diabetes and their parents, with links to resources and an “Ask the Expert” video forum. The content is distributed on PBS.org and showcased on One-on-One: Maria Hinojosa, which is distributed nationally through American Public Television as well as on social networking sites.
