Public Media in Your State
American Samoa
All of KVZK-TV’s local productions cover residents in outer villages. Thus, all residents of the entire American Samoa group of about five small islands can enjoy local Flag Day celebrations, sports, and cultural events. In 2010, KVZK-TV provided live coverage of school sports—football, baseball, and baseball—and for arts festivals that involved school participation. During community festivals and arts festivals, the station includes programming by other ethnic groups, such as Filipinos, Tonga, Chinese, and Korean. Moreover, all its local programming is bilingual, English and Samoan.
