Public Media in Your State
Guam
KGTF-TV helps educate parents, childcare providers, teachers, and children through literacy and child development workshops that expand and enrich their lives. One of the many projects with which the station engages the local community, especially in its public schools, is the PBS Kids Go! Writers Contest, formerly known as the Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest. In Guam, a panel of judges that included teachers, librarians, and a station representative chose 12 local winners from among 189 entrants to compete in the nationwide 2010 contest.
KGTF-TV also provided nonbroadcast services of videotaping and editing immunization PSAs for Guam’s Department of Public Health & Social Services, Bureau of Communicable Disease Control.
KPRG Public Radio Guam assists the University of Guam in serving the educational and intellectual needs of the students, faculty, and staff of the university as well as the residents of Guam. Furthermore, as a public service vehicle, KPRG-FM aids the university in reaching out and making itself available to the community.
