Public Media in Your State
North Dakota
Youthful binge drinking has long had a deadly impact on North Dakota. Prairie Public Broadcasting developed a High Risk High initiative that included a Web site with compelling and age-appropriate content for students; classroom materials for educators; and a radio series targeted to parents, city council members, state legislators, and campus staff; and town hall meetings. The initiative’s success led the state Department of Human Services to adopt High Risk High as part of its alcohol abuse–prevention curriculum.
