This four-part limited series of one-hour episodes will examine how primetime scripted television programs have reflected and shaped the American character over almost 60 years. Each episode will look at the creative process that makes successful comedies and dramas around characters as cultural archetypes. The project is a collaboration of WETA, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation, and The Documentary Group.
