When Sam Cooke crossed over from gospel to the devil’s music in 1958, he set off a chain of events that altered the course of popular music and race relations in America. This film will examine Cooke’s musical and political significance during the early civil rights movement and unravel some of the myths surrounding the life and death of this flawed but talented man.
