This four-part series will follow host and historian Henry Louis (Skip) Gates Jr. as he explores the African diaspora in Latin America through genealogy and individual stories, discovering how slavery and colonialism shaped and defined present-day Latin America. In some countries there, 70 percent of the population have ancestors who were slaves.
