Having lost the opportunity to come out to her own mother, an Indian lesbian filmmaker now living in the United States, will travel across India—where, until very recently, being gay was a criminal offense—to meet with parents of other gay and lesbian South Asians. With daring determination and humor, these parents share stories of their gay and lesbian children that, thus far, remained untold, closeted in secrecy and silence. I Am will question assumptions and brings new international dialogue around sexuality and human rights.
