This 90-minute musical special will celebrate Sir Paul McCartney and his recognition by the Library of Congress as the honoree of the third Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. President and Mrs. Obama will host the all-star evening performance, which will stream live on WhiteHouse.gov and PBS.org. The program will be taped in the White House East Room for a national broadcast on July 28, 2010. McCartney, the Jonas Brothers, Herbie Hancock, Emmylou Harris, Faith Hill, and Stevie Wonder (the 2009 Gershwin Prize honoree), among others, will perform the former Beatle’s songs. Jerry Seinfeld will deliver remarks. The program will be promoted before and after the broadcast on social media sites and on the Library of Congress site, LOC.gov.
