CPB Ready To Learn (RTL) Statewide Planning Agreements fund public broadcasting stations to work with state education agencies to assess, align, and integrate research-tested and curriculum-based RTL products and services into early childhood education. WMHT will lead a coalition of New York public television stations to work with the New York State Education Department and other partners to address policy areas that include teacher preservice training, continuing education, and parent education. Together, CPB and the U.S. Department of Education have financed the creation of numerous high-quality digital media through the RTL initiative. RTL products and services—which include content from six public television series designed to support the reading skills of children aged 2 to 8, with a special emphasis on reaching children from low-income families—provide critical support to young children, parents, teachers, childcare providers, and community facilities.
