StoryCorps

Brooklyn, New York

$900,000

StoryCorps is a public media initiative that celebrates American lives through listening. It provides a quiet and focused environment where two people can speak intimately about their lives and experiences. Edited excerpts from these interviews are then broadcast locally and nationally. StoryCorps generates high-quality, high-impact content and helps public media cultivate and serve an increasingly diverse audience. In this grant term, StoryCorps will collect at least 6,000 interviews with approximately 12,000 participants nationwide in all its facilities. The MobileBooth Tour will make at least 18 new stops across the country. Possible locations include Pensacola, Florida; New Orleans; Dayton, Ohio; Reno, Nevada; Dallas–Fort Worth; central Pennsylvania; Knoxville, Tennessee; Phoenix; Seattle; Fargo, North Dakota; Trenton, New Jersey; Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. StoryCorps will continue to expand its services to the people of the nation and broaden public awareness of the role that public media plays in the lives of all Americans.
