Young people instrumental in driving the transformation in media tend to ignore public media. In response, Youth Media International will launch TurnStyle, a new multiplatform information service powered by creative, culturally diverse, young adults serving as producers, reporters, bloggers, and engaged audiences. This two-year initiative will create, aggregate, and curate high-quality, engaging, edgy, digital-first content (short-form video, audio, photography, and online posts) aimed at 18- to 39-year-olds. The content will be packaged and rapidly refreshed to attract that audience. It will be aggregated on a project Web site, pushed out to sites such as Huffington Post, broadcast on NPR, and, through a strategic partnership with PRX, delivered through mobile applications, sent to stations via an embeddable widget, and distributed through PRX’s Remix stream. TurnStyle will also seek out new talent as contributors.
