In fiscal years 2010–2012, NCME and CPB will establish the following goals for the public broadcasting community:
- A shared understanding of the value and practice of community engagement and its critical role in public media’s mission.
- A research-based understanding about strategic engagement, its return on investment, and effective complementary fundraising practices.
- A set of smart practices for engaging local communities and professional development for teaching those practices.
- An appreciation for the value of sharing stories of impact, particularly, using My Source as a framework for communicating proof of performance.
- An understanding of how public media can effectively use emerging digital and social media technologies in their engagement with local communities.
