The Southern Regional Education Desk—a Local Journalism Center formed by Georgia Public Broadcasting; Alabama Public Television; WBHM-FM, Birmingham; Louisiana Public Broadcasting; KEDM-FM, Monroe, Louisiana; Mississippi Public Broadcasting; WNPT-TV, Nashville; and WUOT-FM, Knoxville, Tennessee—will create multimedia, multiplatform content on and raise awareness of education challenges facing the South. It will use new media and digital tools, including an interactve map, to provide diverse perspectives, expanded news coverage, and analysis. Each partner station will form a local advisory committee and take part in community engagement activities. The coverage and engagement will help discern solutions and serve as a catalyst for change.
