StoryCorps 2011–2012

StoryCorps, a project that collects the stories of everyday Americans and shares them with the nation, will continue its cross-country MobileBooth tour. In the last five years, the mobile recording studios have traveled to all 48 contiguous states, recording almost 14,000 stories in 134 cities. During this one-year grant, the CPB-funded MobileBooth will make approximately 10 stops and will record at least 1,250 interviews. Stops will include Los Angeles; Hawaii; Wilmington, North Carolina; and Lexington, Kentucky. StoryCorps’ production team will craft 50 two-to-three-minute radio features that will air on Morning Edition. The grant will also support processing of all the interviews collected for transfer to the StoryCorps’ Archive at the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress.
