The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor Honoring Will Ferrell

The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor is an annual 90-minute awards show for leaders in the field of comedy. Past honorees on PBS have included Carl Reiner, Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Newhart, Lily Tomlin, Lorne Michaels, Steve Martin, Neil Simon, Billy Crystal, George Carlin, Bill Cosby and Tina Fey. The 2011 honoree will be Will Ferrell. The special will be taped October 23, 2011, for a national primetime broadcast currently scheduled for October 31.

The show will be supported pre- and post-broadcast by Web-exclusive video and promoted on social media sites (such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter) and comedy sites such as FunnyOrDie.com and entertainment blogs.
