In Performance at the White House: A Tribute to Country Music

A one-hour special celebrating country music and presented by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The event is scheduled to be taped in the White House East Room on October 6, 2011, for a national PBS primetime broadcast tentatively scheduled for later that month. The evening event will feature diverse artists performing tributes to stars such as Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Gene Autry and other country music icons. Potential talent includes Vince Gill, Darius Rucker, Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Mickey G., among others.

The event will be live webcast on WhiteHouse.gov on the night of taping, promoted prior to the broadcast with Web-exclusive video of talent interviews and rehearsals and with tune-in on social media sites. The show will be streamed on PBS.org in its entirety the day after broadcast and in performer segments that can be shared and embedded on social media platforms.
