Between the Church and the Crack House

This is a story about the plight and struggle of thousands who are sick and poor in rural America. The program follows the Dixons, an African American family who lives in rural South Carolina. On one side of their home is their Baptist church; down the street is a crack house where Toni Dixon, now 45, has spent most of her adult life. Her daughter Daysha, 16, was born HIV-positive. The head of the house, 64-year-old Wilhelmina Dixon, has spent her life taking care of others and is now fighting for greater HIV awareness and prevention programs in the face of massive state budget cuts. At stake are the lives of those she loves the most.
