Hunt for the Noor Stone

In 2003, Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa—a Kuwaiti psychologist, graduate of Columbia Business School and father of four young boys—had an idea: create a comic book series with roots in Islam and Islamic culture that exemplifies the Islamic virtues of compassion, understanding and tolerance. The comic book, The 99, showcases a team of superheroes, each one exemplifying one of the 99 attributes of Allah.

Hunt for the Noor Stone is an online Flash game made in conjunction with The 99 and a film, Wham! Bam! Islam!, in which viewers see the comic book series being written and illustrated. In Hunt for the Noor Stone, a role-playing adventure game, players navigate the ancient cities of Baghdad and Cordoba in search of the mythical stone referenced in Hindu and Arab texts and believed to contain infinite wisdom. Over the course of the game, players gather necessary information about the history and culture of each city, which they use to solve problems as they progress on their journey.
