Kuma Hina

This film brings a new perspective from the Pacific Islands to the national debates on public education, school bullying and gender diversity. It is told through the lens of a year in the life of an extraordinary Native Hawaiian kumu—an honored teacher and pillar of the community—and mahu, or transgender woman.
