This is a two-part project, to be completed in one year. The first, Merlin 1.0, is designed to drive web traffic to local stations, giving web users the ability to discover both local and national content when they visit PBS.org. CPB funding will be used to provide stations with materials and training in how to implement the system. CPB funding will also enable this to be made available to stations a year earlier than initially planned by PBS.Merlin 2.0 will give local stations the ability to use the PBS web infrastructure to create and maintain their local websites, freeing stations from costly infrastructure upgrades and allowing nontechnical staff to post content to their sites.
