Washington Week: Supplemental Public Media Activities by Gwen Ifill

Gwen Ifill is the managing editor and moderator of Washington Week, the longest-running primetime news and public affairs program on television. In addition to her on-air work, Ifill has expanded her online presence and that of Washington Week with weekly blogs and after-show webcast extras. Ifill also works to enhance the connection of Washington Week and primetime PBS news and public affairs programming to local PTV stations by making numerous station visits throughout the year. These visits are useful to station GMs and programming staff. They are also popular with PTV station members and incentivize the participants to engage with their local stations. During these events, Ifill participates in producing co-branded local promotional spots for use by the stations. In recognition of these significant supplemental activities and her 10th anniversary in public broadcasting, CPB and PBS will equally provide additional one-time funding to enable Ifill to continue her valuable support of public media during a time of contracting resources.
