This grant will support production and operating expenses for Native American Public Telecommunications (NAPT), one of the national minority programming consortia designated by CPB to provide culturally relevant content for the public media system. CPB funds these consortia as part of its commitment to develop and fund high-quality, culturally diverse programming for the American viewing public. This agreement will further an ongoing relationship between CPB and NAPT to increase the amount of Native American content made available to the public media system and provide resources for NAPT to implement strategic activities to increase engagement with educators who teach Native American history in the classroom. The grant will also provide direct financial support to Native American content creators who produce public media content.
Until this year, NAPT received separate grants for production activities and operational costs; this FY 2011 agreement will combine the total support into one contract.
