From keeping citizens informed about lawmakers in Montgomery with Capital Journal to focusing on educational issues with its Spotlight on Education series, Alabama Public Television (APT) is committed to its mission of local programming that inspires, educates, and informs the viewers of Alabama.

APT also partners with amateur, student, and professional filmmakers and broadcasts their works statewide on its award-winning Alabama Storytellers series.

Three of the most popular programs produced by Alabama Public Radio are Bama Bluegrass, an hour-long weekly program hosted by University of Alabama associate professor Lance Kinney, All Things Acoustic, a two-hour weekly program exploring music from the edge of technology with host and professor Jeremy Butler, and Jugs, Jukes and Jazz, which features a weekly blend of jazz, ragtime, Dixieland, and big band sounds from the earliest recordings through about the 1960s with host Tom Halladay.
