Alaska
Films from Alaskans about Alaska are highlighted in KUAC-TV’s AK Shorts. This showcase for amateur Alaskan filmmakers encourages the production of short films that are then produced into a 30-minute to 90-minute program. Created by a recent University of Alaska–Fairbanks graduate, the film OUTspoken: Being Gay in Fairbanks was featured on AK Shorts in 2011 and was selected for the Boston LGBT Film Fest. A Portrait of Nikolai, the work of young filmmakers from the village of Nikolai, was an official selection at the 2010 Anchorage International Film Festival.
KSKA-FM in Anchorage produces Addressing Alaskans, a weekly program featuring public talks and conversations recorded throughout south-central Alaska, including local, national, and global experts speaking on topics that matter to Alaskan residents hosted by such community organizations as the Alaska World Affairs Council, Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, World Trade Center of Alaska, and the Anchorage Museum.
