Economy Response Grant Program Facing the Mortgage Crisis Engaging Communities on the Economy

Purpose

Stations will conduct large-scale content and service projects that address the specific (non-mortgage) financial and economic issues in their communities, such as unemployment, retraining the workforce, personal credit and access to health care. Stations in markets with the highest foreclosure rates will create new partnerships, convene town meetings, and create new on-air and online content that connects citizens to foreclosure-prevention resources and information. Grants will help stations respond to local economic problems through convening community conversations, and collaborative project planning and/or implementation.
