2006 Digital Radio Conversion Fund FY06 Round Two

FY06 Round Two Funding Cycle

In 2006 the CPB Board approved an allocation of $13 million to the Digital Radio Conversion Fund. Eighty five stations were awarded $7.3 million in digital conversion grant funds in August 2006. CPB is opening a second round to distribute approximately $5 million of the remaining allocation.

CPB has funded the digital conversion of 540 public radio transmitters, 63% of all public radio transmitters. Over 200 public radio stations are now transmitting digital signals. Standard funding levels are the same as past rounds. Requests for Hardship Status are accepted which may result in an award greater than standard funding levels.
