2006 Public Radio Program Fund
CPB seeks to advance public radio's public service by investing in distinctive content that reflects the diversity, intelligence and curiosity of its listeners -- and potential listeners -- and meets their needs for information, entertainment and enrichment.
This year, CPB has available approximately $7.3 million to invest in national programming projects in radio. We anticipate that we will distribute a significant portion of these funds in response to this Request for Proposals.
Background
The public radio audience has grown significantly over the past two decades, with more and more listeners coming to value the news, music and entertainment programming that stations, networks and independent producers provide. According to the Radio Research Consortium (RRC), Spring 2005 audience data show that a total of 26.8 million people listen to public radio on a weekly basis. However, given the multitude of media and entertainment choices that listeners have, it's more imperative than ever that public radio programming embody excellence and innovation.
Eligibility
Any person or institution may respond to this Request for Proposals. Joint proposals from multiple parties are encouraged.
Programs currently funded by CPB are eligible for additional CPB funding, provided that their objectives are consistent with CPB's Goals and Objectives.
