Ready to Learn Research Dissemination

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can you please estimate the number of “relevant CPB Ready to Learn staff and staff of its RTL partners” that would need to be interviewed for this project?

CPB Ready to Learn staff and staff of its RTL partners do not need to be interviewed per se, but would be available to answer Contractor questions about their work/research, discuss their project’s contributions to the RTL Initiative, and provide relevant quotes. Below is a list of partner types and the number and positions of the people who the Contractor would most likely talk to on an as-needed basis.

2. Page 1 of the RFP says the selected contractor will draft "up to (8) media pieces," but page 4 of the RFP says finished drafts of each media piece must be delivered to CPB "by the 15th of each month between November 15, 2009 and July 15, 2010," which would seem to be (9) pieces. Can you please clarify the number of media pieces that the contractor will be expected to submit? Is it 8 or 9?

The number of media pieces is 8.

3. Item number 3 on page 3 of the RFP says the selected contractor will draft and submit one "research-related story" (of no more than 2000 words) every month between November 2009 and July 2009 -- "and [will] do additional research and interviewing as necessary to develop media pieces that can be repurposed by CPB." Can you please clarify whether the 2000-word "research-related stories" are the same as, or different from, the "media pieces that can be repurposed by CPB"?

The research-related stories are the draft media pieces.

4. What amount has been budgeted for this work (or what remains in the five-year outreach budget to complete this work)?

Proposed budgets should fairly reflect the cost of the work outlined in the scope of work.

5. With regard to both the research-related monthly stories, are those expected to be camera-ready pieces, designed with photos/graphics so they can be used "as is" by media outlets?

The research-related monthly stories are expected to be drafts. CPB will revise the stories for targeted media outlets and acquire photo/graphics as needed.

6. With regard to the publishing quality final research report, is the final report (particularly the full-color PDF with searchable data) expected to be fully designed, complete with color and all graphical elements.

CPB does not expect nor does it want the final report to be fully designed, complete with color and graphical elements. The final report should be submitted in report form with all text, tables, and figures necessary to tell the Ready to Learn research story.
