Questions from Potential Respondents, with CPB Answers
As of March 21, 2013

Note: Questions that are similar to each other are only listed and answered once.

Q1 — Does this grant cover stations that multicast or just multi stream to two or more different stations?

A1 — No, this grant is for a single station or licensee that would like to “outsource” standalone master control operations to an existing digital multi-station joint master control (aka centralcast hub) service provider.

Q2 — What about radio and TV? Is radio included?

A2 — No, this program is focused on television as none of the centralcast service providers that we know of offer leased services to radio.

Q3 — Can you give me a list of centralcast service providers?

A3 — There are two commercial centralcast service providers that CPB is aware of: Encompass Media and Stratus Solutions. CPB does not recommend or endorse these companies. There are two non-commercial service providers presently under construction: Centralcast LLC and Digital Convergence Alliance. WGBH is also proposing to offer services.

Q4 — We are in need of more server storage and would like to find funding to expand it to meet our needs.

A4 — With the loss of PTFP and CPB’s digital funding, we are not able to help with upgrade, replacement or expansion requests.
