Local Service Initiative Round 3

The Local Service Initiative is designed to provide seed money to develop new or significantly enhance current public service initiatives aligned with a public television station's strategic plan. The Local Service Initiative is a natural outgrowth of two past CPB initiatives, namely, the Major Giving Initiative and the Strategic Planning Initiative. These two initiatives provide the foundation for a successful Local Service Initiative project. Through an applicant station's strategic planning, it should identify projects that are transformative in nature. These projects -- critical to the sustainability of the station -- lend themselves as natural giving opportunities for major donors (individual, corporate or foundation). The Local Service Initiative provides transitional funding for the selected stations as they develop the necessary partnerships and relationships to ensure the projects are ongoing and sustainable.

The amount of each grant will not be greater than $200,000. The exact amount will be determined by the exact specifications, reach, and sustainability of your project. The amount requested should adequately reflect the scope of work, length of time and potential impact of the project.
